🇵🇰 Pakistan Shoots Down 25 Indian Drones Amid Escalating Border Tensions
In a major military development, the Pakistan Army has successfully shot down 25 Indian drones, including Israeli-made Harop loitering munitions, in response to a series of escalating cross-border incursions. The announcement was made by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan military, as tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors continue to rise.
📍 Drone Strikes Across Multiple Cities
According to military sources, the drones were intercepted over Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Gujranwala. The drones reportedly violated Pakistani airspace during what Pakistan claims were coordinated reconnaissance and strike attempts by Indian forces.
“This is a clear act of aggression. Pakistan’s armed forces remain fully prepared to defend its sovereignty,” an ISPR official stated during a press conference.
⚠️ Civilian and Military Impact
While most drones were neutralized mid-air, one managed to strike near a military facility in Lahore, injuring four Pakistani soldiers. Another drone reportedly crashed in a residential area, tragically killing one civilian due to falling debris.
Pakistan has lodged a formal protest with New Delhi and has taken the issue to international forums, including the United Nations and OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation).
🎯 What Are Harop Drones?
The Harop drone is a loitering munition developed by Israel Aerospace Industries. It combines surveillance with strike capability, often referred to as a “kamikaze drone” because it detonates on impact. These drones are equipped with real-time target acquisition and can hover for hours before engaging a target.
🛰️ Surveillance Drones Shot Down at LoC
In addition to the Harop drones, Pakistan also reported shooting down two Indian military quadcopters near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Satwal and Manawar sectors. These drones were allegedly used for surveillance and intelligence gathering across contested areas in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
🌐 International Response
The conflict has alarmed several global powers. The United States, China, and the United Arab Emirates have called for restraint and urged both nations to initiate diplomatic de-escalation. A UN spokesperson emphasized the importance of maintaining regional peace and avoiding further military confrontations.
